Getting started
Created 2026-09-10·Last updated 2026-09-10
Everything a new account needs, in one place. This page is always here — open it again whenever you want.
Your first five minutes
- Create an account and activate it with the six-digit code we email you.
- Pick a username — that is how people mention you with @.
- Browse the channels and join one, or open your own.
- Write a message, or hold the microphone button to send a voice message of up to 3 minutes.
Open channels and private circles
- Open channels: anyone can walk in.
- Private circles are by request. You send a request with a short message, the operator reads it and accepts or declines.
- Nobody can add you to a private circle without your request — operators cannot invite people on their own.
- When the operator accepts, the circle appears in your channel list. You do not have to do anything else.
- If a request is declined, you can ask the same circle again after 24 hours.
How long messages last
- Each channel keeps only its newest 50 messages. Older ones are deleted for good, together with their voice audio.
- Voice audio is also removed 24 hours after it is sent: the message stays, the recording does not.
- Private conversations are wiped once both sides go offline.
- Because of this there is no full message search.
The coloured dots (presence)
- Green: online on ReTalkia and watching this channel.
- Yellow: online on ReTalkia, but not watching this channel — they are in another channel, or have no channel open at the moment.
- Red: not connected right now, but still a member — nobody is removed for being away.
Mentions and the assistant
- Type @ followed by a username to mention someone. They get a gold badge and a notification.
- ReTalkia_Assistent understands /help, /who, /time, /kick, /ban, /clear and /topic. Type /help inside a channel.
Limits and automatic deletion
- You can be in up to 10 channels.
- Each operator can open 1 public channel and 1 private circle.
- A channel with no members left for 48 hours is deleted automatically. Admin channels are exempt.
Your account
- Sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with your password.
- Change your name, username, email or password on your profile page.
- We never ask for a phone number.
Moderation
- Operators can kick or permanently ban someone from a channel they manage. There is no unban.
- Project administrators can apply platform-wide bans.
- There is no public ban list.
